The Red Sea Film Foundation has unveiled the honorees for its 2025 “Women in Cinema” Gala, held during the 78th Cannes Film Festival. This annual event celebrates the achievements of female filmmakers, creators, actors, and executives who have made significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
Among the honorees is Jacqueline Fernandez, who expressed her delight at being recognized, stating, “Delighted to be an honouree at the women in cinema initiative that champions female storytellers.”

The gala, established in 2022, is hosted at the prestigious Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes. It aims to spotlight trailblazing talents from the Arab world and beyond, promoting cultural exchange and creative collaboration.

Rungano Nyoni: A Zambian-Welsh writer-director known for her critically acclaimed film I Am Not a Witch.
Jacqueline Fernandez: A South Asian actress and Bollywood star with a string of successful films.
Amina Khalil: An Egyptian actress whose performances have redefined contemporary Egyptian cinema.
Elham Ali: A Saudi actress celebrated for her roles in regional series and films. Engfa Waraha: A Thai actress and emerging talent making waves in Southeast Asia.
Gaya Jiji: A Syrian filmmaker recognized for her storytelling that reflects the complexities of Syrian life.
Sarah Taiba: A Saudi filmmaker and artist whose work explores the intersection of culture and identity.
Honoring Past Achievements
The Women in Cinema Gala has previously honored a range of influential women. Last year’s honorees included Egyptian actress and model Salma Abu Deif, Indian actress Kiara Advani, Thai actress, model, and singer Sarocha Chankimha (also known as Freen), Saudi actress Adhwa Fahad, Saudi singer and actress Aseel Omran, and French-Senegalese director Ramata Toulaye-Sy.
