Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is set to become the epicenter of competitive gaming this summer as it hosts the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC), featuring the highly anticipated finals of Apex Legends and FC Pro. Scheduled from July 8 to August 24, the EWC 2025 promises to be the largest esports event to date, boasting a record-breaking $70 million prize pool and attracting over 2,000 players from more than 100 countries

Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Midseason Playoffs

Returning to Riyadh after a thrilling debut in 2024, the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Midseason Playoffs will take place from July 10 to 13. The tournament will feature 40 of the world’s top squads competing for a $2 million prize pool.

The competition kicks off with Pool Play on July 10 and 11, dividing teams into two groups of 20 for 10 matches. The top seven teams from each group will advance directly to the Match Point Finals on July 13. Teams ranked 8th to 17th will battle for the final six spots through the Last Chance Semifinals on July 12.

The tournament winner will take home $600,000 and earn 1,000 valuable ALGS Championship Points toward year-end qualification.

FC Pro World Championship

The FC Pro World Championship, the season-ending event for EA Sports FC’s esports circuit, will be held from August 7 to 10. The tournament will feature 32 of the world’s top players, including reigning World Champion Anders Vejrgang, nicolas99fc, and Tekkz, competing for a share of the $1.5 million prize pool.

A Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) will precede the main event from July 31 to August 2, offering 512 participants a final opportunity to reach the Play-Ins. From there, 48 players will contend for the last four spots in the championship.

The prize pool breakdown is as follows:

  • 1st Place: $250,000
  • 2nd Place: $150,000
  • 3rd-4th Place: $70,000 each
  • 5th-8th Place: $40,000 each
  • 9th-16th Place: $15,000 each
  • 17th-24th Place: $12,500 each
  • 25th-32nd Place: $10,000 each

Esports World Cup 2025 Overview

The Esports World Cup 2025, organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation, will feature 25 tournaments across 24 games, including new additions like Valorant and online chess. The event aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan, aiming to diversify the economy through significant investments in the gaming and sports industries.

The total prize pool of $70 million is the largest in esports history, with $25 million allocated to esports clubs for talent development.

With its impressive lineup of games, substantial prize pools, and a global roster of elite players, the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh is poised to set new standards in the world of competitive gaming.
